This August in Dublin, I had the honor of collaborating with House of Suntory, bringing together the worlds of Japanese calligraphy and whisky craftsmanship in a truly special way. It was more than just an event—it was a moment of harmony, a celebration of artistry, and a bridge between cultures.
As guests arrived, I welcomed them with something personal—a handcrafted calligraphy piece on a traditional Japanese fan, inscribed with their names. Seeing their faces light up as they received this small but meaningful gift was a reminder of why I do what I do. Calligraphy is more than ink on paper; it’s an expression of the heart, a way to capture energy and emotion in each brushstroke.
The House of Suntory, with its nearly 100-year legacy of whisky-making, bring the philosophy of precision and a deep respect for nature and tradition. As we sipped their beautifully crafted whisky, I shared the essence of ‘Wa’ (harmony) through calligraphy, guiding guests through the meditative flow of the brush.
This night in Dublin was a meeting of traditions, a space where Japanese artistry met Irish hospitality. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who joined, and to House of Suntory for making this moment possible. Kanpai! 🥂
